ENVIRONMENTAL GRAFFITO
Graffito is the singular form of the Italian graffiti, meaning "little scratch".
Graffito (ancient Italian word meaning scratched) is a two-colour drawing technique which creates the difference of colour by simulating the scratching of the painted surface.
Graffito (plural "graffiti"), in an archaeological context, has been created by humans since Homo sapiens have been traversing the Earth. There are even scratchings, doodlings, drawings, symbols, and art, etc. etched on bone pieces from prehistoric times.
Inspired by the ancient cave drawings and symbols from Ancient Eygpt 'Environmental Graffito' explores the natural wonders of the beach. Using found chalk and charcoal, drawings of found objects are scratched onto sea defence walls, creating a temporoary mural of the surrounding environment.
