Portraits

In this series beauty and fragility are enhanced. Hand stitching takes the place of drawing, abstracting the subject, breaking down the features to a more vulnerable state. The thread 'melting' into the fabric representing delicate 'skin'. These pieces are inspired by literature, Ancient Egyptian tomb painting, ripped layered wallpaper, religious relics and the movement of sleep.
